Who doesn’t love a good caramel apple? I have to get one every year at the county fair. I made them at home before, but it ended up being a huge mess with warm caramel dripping everywhere. So now when the caramel apple craving hits us, we make this yummy dip instead and serve it with apple slices. Adding the bananas gives this dip an extra bit of fruit and of course the sweet banana taste.Caramel Banana Dip – Perfect For Dipping Apples
Ingredients:
1/2 cup pecan halves, chopped
1 medium banana, coarsely chopped
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 (12 ounce) jar of hot caramel ice cream topping
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350F. Chop pecans and bananas. Combine ingredients (except pecans) in mixing bowl. Mix well. Pour mixture into small casserole dish. Sprinkle pecans over mixture. Bake 10-12 minutes until the top is bubbly. Serve with apple wedges.
This is a great way to get your kids to eat their apples and to them it’s more like eating candy. Our daughter’s friend used to not like apples. In fact, she wouldn’t touch them and I’m not sure she ever tasted one. We got her to try and apple dipped in this caramel dip (who could resist the smell?) and from there got her to try apples with cheese, apples with peanut butter and quickly turned her into an apple fan.
